Worry is Prayer for What You Don’t Want

August 23, 2008

life hacks

Sometimes, it is very difficult to NOT think of what you DON’T want. We are wired to think and worry about things that we don’t wish to happen. This is very detrimental to your success, as when you think of anything, your subconscious views it as something you would like to have happen. We think things into reality.

If you have kids, and you are worrying about them getting abducted every time they go outside or are out of your view… don’t be surprised if, one day, your kid gets kidnapped. You were silently wishing for it with every little ‘worry prayer’.

Worrying about losing your job, losing your home, losing your car, losing your marriage or getting ill… actually INCREASES the odds that that in which you are dreading will become reality.

Does this make sense?

I know it’s hard. Some people are oversensitive and show their worry and concern as a sign of love for those they care about. My Grandma Wright was a huge worrier. She worried about her health constantly, and died relatively young with health issues.

When I find myself worrying about something, I change my focus to working on a solution to the issue. I change my state of worry and concern to a state of ingenuity and inventiveness. Don’t worry or bitch about a problem… work towards finding a solution for that which mentally ails you.

Knowing that worry is a silent prayer, which asks and pleads for that which we don’t want is a powerful thing to consider. It could profoundly affect your life. Worry is the Law of Attraction working AGAINST you.

The more we think about something, the greater chance it has to become reality. Keep that in mind!!!

Much Love!

Travis Wright

You are right about worrying, It is a thought that is activated by an emotion picked up by the Universe as what you want and a lot of the time brought to fruition even though it is the opposite of what you want. That is why a lot of us go around saying things like “the one things I did not want to happen, happened.”

    Two Things:
    1. Worry does nothing more than take you mind into a negativity tailspin. Once you start to worry your day gets progressively worst.
    2. A favorite quote from my favorite song says: Worrying is like trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum. Worrying is useless to helping you solve a problem.

You are right about finding the solution, I find once I start to worry, I take a step back, think about the facts and come up with a solution.

    Great post,

This is such a simple concept but it makes so much sense. I’ve been reading a lot lately about the psychosomatic effect and this fits in perfectly with that.

    Thanks for a great post!

Yes, it does make sense. But the problem is when faced with “difficult” situation in life, we can’t just brush off the worry.

    Shamelle,

Actually, when you are faced with a difficult situation, this is when you need to practice this the most.

In fact, it is then that you need to focus on a solution, and not worrying about worst case scenario… when you worry and dwell on the things that can go wrong, actually increase in probability.

So, focus on what you can DO…

Travis, as you touched on in your comment, I think the biggest problem with worry isn’t our minds causing bad things, it is them not causing good things. When we are worried about something we aren’t thinking, planning, acting on the solution to the problem.

    The power of focus.

It makes a profound sense indeed, but not so many people realize this truth. Although worrying about somebody is universally accepted as a sign of love for that person, it produces the opposite effect. You put it so vividly by saying that it can be compared to a kind of negative prayer. It can also be considered a kind of a magical ritual, because magic is indeed conducted by using our thoughts, feelings and imagination.

The idea is true, but sometimes is hard to apply it just by remembering it.

I found that in such moments, practical exercises like meditation or breathing exercises diffuse the worry like nothing else.

Hmmm…you are right. I have seen some great success in my marriage by praying faith filled prayers for her and our marriage daily. Its been great.

It is important to understand the difference between thinking and worrying.

Worrying is a negative emotion and we must remember that negativity breeds more negativity.

If you liked the Secret you don’t want to miss this film. The Opus. It really clearly answers alot fo the things were are discussing here. This spectacular film follows up to the questions left behind in the law of attraction. It features many familiar faces from The Secret. (Jack Canfield, John Demartini, Morris Goodman, Bob Doyle, Joe Vitale, Marci Shimoff, Mark Victor Hansen and others.) I felt that the Secret teachers went especially more in-depth than in The secret. it’s worth checking out. http://www.TheOpusMovie.com

I’ve always been a worrier, but I these days I just try to get the balance right between positivity and negativity. Be too positive and you’ll end up living in a dream world, making the big hits that much bigger. Be too negative and you live a life os misery.
Get the balance right and you can do what you can to avoid the bad things in life, while enjoying the good.

Got something to say?
