Shedding Light On Ourselves - Parts That Don’t Want To Heal

In almost every case, we know what is best for us in our lives, from the relationships we create to the food we eat. Still, somewhat mysteriously, it is often difficult to make the right choices for ourselves. We find ourselves hanging out with someone who leaves us feeling drained or choosing to eat fast food over a salad. We go through phases where we stop doing yoga or taking vitamins, even though we feel so much better when we do. Often we have no idea why we continue to make the less enlightened choice, but it is important that we inquire into ourselves to find out.

When we choose that which is not best for us, the truth can be that there is a deep seated part of us that does not want to heal. We may say it’s because we don’t have the time or the energy or the resources, but the real truth is that when we don’t take care of ourselves we are falling prey to self-sabotage. Self-sabotage happens unconsciously, which is why it’s so difficult to see that we are doing it. The important thing to realize is that this very part of us that resists our healing is the part that most needs our attention and love. Even as it appears to be working against us, if we can simply bring it into the light of our consciousness, it can become our greatest ally. It carries the information we need to move to the next level in our healing process.

When we recognize that we are not making healthy choices, we might even say out loud, “I am not taking care of myself.” Sometimes this is the jolt we need to wake up to what is actually happening. Next we can sit ourselves down in meditation, with a journal, or with a trusted friend to explore the matter more thoroughly. Just shining the light of our awareness on the source of our resistance is sometimes enough to dispel its power. At other times, further effort is required. Either way, we need not fear these parts that do not want to heal. We only need to take them under our wing and bring them with us into the light.

How to Create Your Own Good Luck

June 28, 2007

By Tim Ryan

Would you like to be able to create your own luck? Yeah of course you would. We have all experienced our own streaks of good and bad fortune. Luck is a funny thing though, it’s nature is so random, coming and going as it pleases, yet almost always deserting you when you desire it most and reappearing when you least expect it.

You have probably experienced this yourself at some point: a hot run at the bookies, favourable career decisions going your way and so on… yet almost as gauranteed as day follows night the luck seems to disappear. It usually occurs just as soon as you start to reflect on your recent good form and start to worry about how long it will continue to run for. This doubt and fear then robs you of the very thing that created your luck in the first place. In short it makes you fearful and indecisive.

When your run of luck started I’m sure you remember that it came down to making a definite decision of some sort: to apply for a job or back your business instinct but whatever it was it came down to making a positive decision. It should be of no surprise then that as soon as you started to reflect on your ‘good luck’ and started to worry about how long it would last this fear almost inevitabley leads you to be indecisive and indeed robs you of your luck in a quite ironic fashion.

So a few keys to remember when wanting to create yourself some luck:
Be decisive and proactive, don’t doubt and just accept the luck by not questioning it.

I find this approach nicely summed up by U.S Anderson (The Magic In Your Mind):

Transforming Fear, Anger, and Jealousy into Creative Energy

May 11, 2007

By Osho

Your emotions, your sentiments, your thoughts–the whole paraphernalia of the mind–are manipulated by the outside. Scientifically, it has become more clear now, but even without scientific investigation the mystics have been saying exactly the same thing for thousands of years–that all these things your mind is filled with are not yours; you are beyond them. You get identified with them, and that’s the only problem.

For example, somebody insults you and you become angry. You think you are becoming angry, but scientifically speaking the other person’s insult is only functioning as a remote control. The person who has insulted you is managing your behavior. Your anger is in his hands; you are behaving like a puppet.

Now scientists are able to put electrodes in the brain at certain centers, and it is almost unbelievable. The mystics have been talking about it for thousands of years, but only recently has science discovered that there are hundreds of centers in the brain controlling all your behavior. An electrode can be put at a particular center–for example, the center for anger. Nobody insults you, nobody humiliates you, nobody says anything to you; you are sitting silently, happily, and somebody pushes a button on a remote control and you become angry! It is a very strange feeling because you cannot see the reason anywhere, why you are becoming angry. Perhaps you will rationalize it somehow. You see a man passing by in the hallway and you remember that he insulted you–you will find some rationalization just to console yourself that you are not going mad. Sitting silently . . . and suddenly feeling so angry without any provocation?

Law of Attraction in the Mental World

April 12, 2007

By Tamir Qadree

The life that we know is governed and operated by immutable laws. These laws are backed by one great life force or the great ALL! Its manifestations are unlimited, yet many people totally ignore this great power, these great laws and this all powerful, all present, all knowing, GREAT ALL.
Law of Attraction
We (some of us) understand the law of gravity, or similar laws, but fail to understand or give credence to the powerful Law of Attraction in the mental world, or thought world. While we acknowledge the laws that pull and hold planets in orbits, and keeps water on the surface for the most part, we, at the same time, are doubtful and choose to ridicule the law that brings us our hearts desire and delight.

Thoughts have magnet like powers, drawing to us whatever we think, ponder or desire with feeling and longing. This great force creates world, mold destines and build great structures and machines, which travel to outer space and beyond. We are speaking of a magnificent force to be admired; a force that must inspire greatness in all who realize even a atoms worth of its superior ability. Thoughts are a wonderful force, creative stuff and have genius and magic in it. Thought is the real maker and fashioner of life and of all the goodies we seek.
