If you have never become rich then it is because of one or more of the following seven reasons. You can break free of them and become rich if you really want to. It starts by being brutally honest with yourself when deciding whether that reason applies to you.

My promise to you is that I will be brutally honest with you, throughout this article, and not pull any punches. I hope that you can do the same for yourself and say goodbye forever to being broke.

1. You don’t know how to become rich.

Getting rich requires a lot of specialized knowledge and skill, yet I see people who claim that they want to get rich and have never spent a single day of study on how to do that. When I quiz them on why this is they tell me that those courses are so expensive.

Just how rich are you planning to get? If you don’t think that you are going to earn back the money for a course or two then your financial ambitions must be at rock bottom.

It is amazing to think that an otherwise intelligent person can stay broke year after year and never work out that investing a few thousand dollars in the right type of education could be the best investment of their life. I couldn’t afford the wealth education when I stated out but I did what it took to raise the money to get the education.

2. You don’t have the courage to set a big enough goal.

Aim for the stars and you will at least hit the moon, but if you only aim as high as the back of the sofa then you probably won’t get off your butt long enough to hit any target.
Getting rich takes dedicated effort over a few years. You need to set a goal that is inspiring enough to fuel that effort and keep you on track for long enough to reap the rewards.

3. You don’t break your goal down into bite size chunks.
A big goal can give you inspiration but if you don’t break it into do-able tasks then you will find yourself overwhelmed. The trick is to keep one eye on the big picture and the other on the day to day activities of completing those small, bite size chunks.

Each time you complete a small, on target sub-goal then you can give yourself a pat on the back and reinforce that you are another step closer to achieving the big goal. If you do this you will be amazed at how much energy and enthusiasm it gives you for completing the next sub-goal.

4. You’re waiting to get everything perfect before you start.
This is the millstone around the neck of the detailed oriented person. It totally destroys any hope of them ever becoming rich because there will never be a perfect time to start. The people who become rich start now, whether they are ready or not, and then improve their actions along the way.

5. You are not honest with yourself.
This is one of the most common barriers to wealth. Even though you are doing nothing of any serious consequence to help you become rich you still manage to convince yourself that you are working toward it.

Tell me honestly; what did you actually do yesterday that was a true goal directed action that took you a little closer to becoming wealthy. Let me give you a simple way to test yourself; if you are just as broke as you were this time last year then there is an excellent chance that you haven’t been seriously working toward becoming wealthy.

6. You are a control freak.
How rich do you think Bill Gates would be today if he was a control freak and had to do everything himself? You can’t become rich unless you learn to delegate.

I can hear some of you saying “but I can’t find anyone to do it as well as I can.” Bill Gates is the richest man in the world so obviously no-one in his organization can make money as well as Bill can, but that didn’t stop him from building a huge, world wide organization.

Worrying that no-one can do things as well as you can is the most expensive exercise of ego that a human being can engage themselves in. Start thinking today about what you can delegate or outsource.

7. You don’t have the guts to do what it takes.

I’ve left the number one reason to last. This is the person who, for all their talk, and goals, and theories, simply doesn’t have the guts to walk their talk. Maybe they’re afraid of failing, maybe they’re afraid of the work load, maybe they’re afraid of what their friends will think, or of any of a thousand other things.

Standing out from the crowd requires courage. Climbing the ladder of success higher than anyone around you requires courage. Putting yourself on the line and risking failure requires courage. Either you find the courage or you’d be better off admitting that you’re not going to make it and then look for a way to live a mediocre life.

This might seem like a harsh thing to say but it is the truth and I am not doing you any favors by pretending that life is any different.

On a positive note you can do what it takes no matter what your fears. All those who have succeeded have had fears and doubts. The difference is that they chose to do what it takes anyway, fears or no fears, they let no excuse stop them.
