They say having children changes everything. While it’s unquestionably a remarkable time in one’s life, I can also see how the transition introduces obvious limitations. Suddenly you have dependent beings of life to care for. Responsibility kicks in, compelling you to dedicate a significant portion of your time and attention to the best interests of the little ones. Combine this with the obvious physical and lifestyle limitations that come with age and it seems to me that there are several activities to check off the bucket list before settling down to start a family.
Here’s our list of 70 things to do before having children. For us, it’s simply about conquering as many life experiences as possible. We’re not quite there yet, but we’re getting closer.
- Live in a high rise condo with an amazing view.
- Take a month long vacation on the opposite side of the world in a city with a completely different culture.
- Attend the Super Bowl live.
- Jump out of a perfectly good airplane.

I can’t say that I agree with you. I have a three year old and it has not kept me from having tons of adventures with my wife. Sometimes with him, sometimes not. Of course, I have never had the urge to jump out of an airplane either

Awesome article. I do disagree with the comment above from Jason. I LOVED my experience skydiving, but now that I have three kids, I wouldnt do it again. But for those concerned with living on the edge, you may enjoy one of my articles.
What if today was the last day of your life?

I do not think swimming with the sharks is something I will ever try. Apart from that it is a great list of things to do before having children. As for advice number 20, I would say 30 books is too little. Read at least 10 times that many.
The list is entertaining and fun - reminds me a lot of being in high school and college. I’m gonna add a few items on my to do list this week !
Thanks for the post!

I agree, having chilrdren definately makes having that adventure that little bit more difficult. However, some would argue starting a family and equiping your children for their life ahead is the biggest adventure of them all.
I used to fly a lot and teach others how to fly too. Maybe I’m getting old, but there’s no way I’d take some of the risks today that I used to just a few short years ago. Or, maybe that’s just what they call “experience”!!!
Love this list! check out my “101 things to do before i die” list. there are a lot of similar things.
I would like to buy a 2-seater sport car so that we don’t have to bring our children together when going for a romantic drive.
Great list! Its true, there are just some things that you won’t do after you have kids. I am happy that I have done a few things on the list, so I don’t feel like I missed out on everything!
Great list. I think that by now we can add another 1000 to do
