A New Way to Live…

Things are looking up. Today, I joined a gym and had an incredible workout. Currently, I’m about 60lbs overweight, and this is no longer acceptable. Did a killer cardio workout burned nearly 400 calories and shot a bit of hoops. Good times. This picture is not me, by the way, but if I kept going… it very well could have been.

You know when the pants are tight, its time to get yo’ ass to the gym. Unless you want to buy a new wardrobe… heh. How expensive would that be? For me, I said, ‘Hell no!” No more of this insanity… I will take my ass to the gym at least 5 times a week, and do cardio 3-4 times a week… and free weights 2-3 times a week. It must be done. A new way to live. So, periodically, I will be updating my progress at the gym in hopes of inspiring some of you who may need to drop some poundage from your booty.

Last year I had a stretch of going to the gym 83 out of 101 days, but then I had bronchitis and the doc told me not to work out for 2 weeks. After my momentum was destroyed it was very difficult to build up the desire to go to the gym. So, I stop going and some pounds came roaring back. This time, that result won’t occur. It is a change in lifestyle, not just habit… and not just temporary. It’s a must.

So, if you wish to obtain a better body for a better life, feel free to do this as well. No reason to be packing around extra pounds, looking all flabby, feeling all shitty. Go out there and get a gym membership and become as vibrant and passionate about life and health as you can be!

You owe it to yourself, to your significant other, your children, and your future. Quit being sedentary. Life life to the fullest… let’s do this together.

Much Love-

Travis Wright

Best of luck, Travis! You may enjoy “The Philosopher’s Diet: How to Lose Weight & Change the World” by Richard A. Watson. It’s not a diet book, but rather, a fun read by a curmudgeonly fellow who uses fat as a metaphor for the excess clutter in our lives, and the notion of “diet” as a roadmap for life.

Good luck Travis. I too am embarking on what I call New Life Resolutions, because New Years Resolutions are… in my words… for wussies!

Hey thanks Windows Shopper and Saymorre. I will definitely check that book out.

Also, New Life Resolutions is a great name… too bad the .com is already taken.

[...] Well, an internet friend, Saymorre, posted a comment on one of my articles the other day, saying “Good luck Travis. I too am embarking on what I call New Life Resolutions, because New Years Resolutions are… in my words… for wussies!” [...]

Everyone has probably heard “we are what we eat”. Most Americans are still not aware that there is very little nutrition in almost any of the products offered in even the largest grocery stores and most restaurants. I used to think I ate fairly “healthy” until I realized I was simply wrong about that.

Not only is the food we eat mostly empty calories and therefore not satisfying, it is also full of addictive substances. Between the two is it any wonder most people have issues with their weight?

There is an easy way to lose weight. If you eat truly nutritious food you won’t eat nearly as much, you’ll feel full, you won’t constantly be hungry and thirsty, and your body will start detoxing and healing itself.

The challenge is knowing what food is healthy and nutritious and that will get even more challenging as Corporations start buying up successful alternative food sources.

The simplest way for me to share that with others is in my blog at http://flyingrose.stumbleupon.com/. Use the drop-down and select the topic Cooking for details. There is additional information under Health.

Got something to say?
