What a Great Wife - Surprised me with Big 35th Birthday Party

May 18, 2023

My wife deserves a medal. For one…having to spend her life with me, what an effin challenge for this lady, right?

Well, she organized a surprise 35th birthday party for me on Saturday, May 17th. And it was totally unknown to me, a total shock. Plus, as an added surprise 22 friends and family showed up to wish me well.

I had NO idea, one of my friends picked me and my kid up, as he asked me to help him do some errands with him, so we end up on a huge ass goose chase, that takes us to Maryville, Missouri, 100 miles away and back again over to my home in the suburbs of Kansas City. Over 200 miles in his 2007 Ford F-150 to drop off this tempurpedic mattress and this cat “pagoda” wtf that is. We also pick up his fiance and her brother.

Anyways, the party was supposed to begin at 5:30… we don’t get back until 7pm. Actually a couple of my guests had to leave to go pick up their kids from the babysitter. Some of them got to the house around 4ish, so they were waiting upwards of 3 hours.

Anyway, my mom and dad were there, my in laws, bro, bro and sis inlaw, 3 friends from 4th grade, one from kindergarten, and like 8 from college on. What a trip.

Some other great news, today we went garage saleing today, and we ended up picking up this solid oak kick dining room table w 4 chairs that is super sturdy and kick ass… Originally, $1200+ got it for $175. Pure Garage Sale Ownageness.

I had no hint or idea this was transpiring. What a great wife I have… and just the other day, i was jokingly bitching because her birthday is April 27th, then Mothers Day, and tomorrow is our anniversary… this is like the Ms Wright - 3 week arsenal holiday bonanza.

She busts out a surprise bday party. Complete with a Jayhawk Birthday cake! My first cartoonish birthday cake since like age 11 or there abouts. Plus, my 6 year old son came with, and didn’t tip me off about the party either.

Life’s great joys are kids, friends and family. I’m so grateful to be loved. And now, if I died, I know that at least 22 people would come to it. And that is comforting to know. Hah.

Thanks everyone. I felt the love.

Don’t Dog on Yourself about the Dumb things You’ve Done.

September 27, 2023

Give yourself pep talks.

Take a moment in the morning of each day, to actually tell yourself how much you love yourself. Talk to yourself and remind yourself of your successes. Focus on the future, and live in the moment. Learn to get better each and every day.

The more that you focus on the negative and dumb stuff that you have done, the more that the guilt and the feelings of inadequacy pops into your existence.

Gratitude is the most powerful word in the English Dictionary.

Here is a podcast that I did back in 2005 for Hunatrainer.com Community Boardcast. It was an interesting moment in my life where I had an epiphany pertaining to relationship and abandonment. I let it go, and with the magic of a song it creates a pretty interesting 15 minutes or so of audio.

Finding the Technique for Perfect Breathing

July 7, 2023

leadership trainingby Travis Wright

Back in 1995, I noticed that I was breathing incorrectly. The more I noticed it, the more that, it seemed, it got worse. Little did I know, the Law of Attraction was in full effect. Energy flows where attention goes. My breathing got worse. Then stress began to prevail in my neck and throat, and for the last 12 years, I have been inflicted by this stressful inconvenience.

As a result of my poor breathing, I put on about 60 pounds. Obviously, without as much oxygen in the system to help with burning of calories, weight gain will take place. Exercise would become more of a chore, because when you are breathing incorrectly, it puts more strain on everything.

The more you notice something like this, more it takes over your thinking. I began to think that the stress in my throat and poor breathing might end my life prematurely. This is a scary thought. The more focus I put on it, the worse it got.

According to many sources, they say that 40-60% of people breathe incorrectly. So, I’m not alone, I thought. Factor in that most people nowadays, spend numerous hours sitting incorrectly at a PC, and that makes everything worse. In fact, most people who breathe incorrectly, do so by having the ‘Goose Neck’ effect, which is a posture of extending the head forward.

So, I had the opportunity to listen to the Vocal Coach audio series, and they had a visual exercise that really helped me out:

HOW TO CORRECT POOR BREATHING
Imagine a string on the back of the top of your head, and imagine two strings on each side of your collarbone. These strings are then pulled tight to the ceiling, and you stand upright, like a marionette. This lifts up your head and chest and allows for proper diaphragm breathing, as opposed to shallow chest breathing. DO NOT hold your stomach in, let it flow in and out, expanding and contracting. Instead enjoy the feeling of your tummy. Ahhhh.
