Thoughts on Gratitude

gratitude

Here are some great thoughts on gratitude. Many thinkers throughout time have written down their thoughts and theories on why its important to be grateful for what you have and gratitude for where you are in life. Enjoy these nuggets of wisdom and think about things in your life that you are grateful for:

  • God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say “thank you?” ~William A. Ward
  • The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving. ~H.U. Westermayer
  • Think about what you want, not what you don’t want. Be grateful for what you got, and you will get more to be grateful for. ~Travis Wright
  • Gratitude is the memory of the heart. ~Jean Baptiste Massieu, translated from French
  • Silent gratitude isn’t much use to anyone. ~G.B. Stern
  • If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, “thank you,” that would suffice. ~Meister Eckhart
  • If you have lived, take thankfully the past. ~John Dryden
  • When we were children we were grateful to those who filled our stockings at Christmas time. Why are we not grateful to God for filling our stockings with legs? ~G.K. Chesterton
  • The only people with whom you should try to get even are those who have helped you. ~John E. Southard
  • [G]ratitude is happiness doubled by wonder. ~G.K. Chesterton
  • You say grace before meals. All right. But I say grace before the concert and the opera, and grace before the play and pantomime, and grace before I open a book, and grace before sketching, painting, swimming, fencing, boxing, walking, playing, dancing and grace before I dip the pen in the ink. ~G.K. Chesterton
  • For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
    For everything Thy goodness sends.
    ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

So I found this huge list over at Mallosworld.co.uk. It is a fascinating lists of sites with tons of information in it. In fact, the reason I found it, was because of a backlink back to my site here. Cool. Enjoy the list! Pass the word!

Recommended Brain Fitness

So, I was stumbling using StumbleUpon plugin for Firefox, and I found a couple sites to inspire the brain and make you think.
leadership training
The first one is a site called ShadowCards.com. Shadow Cards are a psychological tool that creates random metaphors, food for thought. These metaphors can relate to what’s going on in your life on different levels and thus trigger nourishing insight from the unconscious. Highly recommended to help make you think about things you probably need to think about. Do this during a quiet time.

Another great site that I found is called the Brain Fitness Channel. This site pertains to using your brain more effectively with activities and evaluations to help your brain become more fit.

If you haven’t heard of digg inc. before, I am sorry. But, it’s not too late for you, there is still time as they are hard at work at diggLabs with the Stack, BigSpy & Swarm. This is the new way for news delivery. A must for people who want that news about things are most important to us and our folksonomy.

This list will continue to grow and get bumped from time to time.

These sites are worth exploring! [Travis Wright]

How Can You Enhance Your Intuition?

By: Abbas Abedi

Do you believe in synchronicity? Do you believe in ESP? Have you ever felt a strong hunch? Have you had that eerie feeling that something is about to happen, and to your surprise, it eventually translated to reality?
personal development
Welcome to the world of intuition! This is when you feel strongly about something without logical explanations. All shamans have a developed sense of intuition and it enhances thier life in many ways. Here are the types of intiution…

Intuition comes in three impressions: clairvoyance or “the third eye”, sensing clearly, and feeling through listening.

Clairvoyance refers to the capacity to see beyond what others see. This is when you are able to second guess what is happening somewhere or what is about to happen.

Sensing clearly is what we commonly know as “hunch” or “gut feel.” This is the time when you are overwhelmed with a feeling and you cannot explain it. All you can say is, “I just know.”

I was over at a Japanese friend’s house the other night and he started to show me how to make origami with Japanese money. We were having a great time when he said, “The only problem is that there is no tipping in Japan. When I was In the US, I would fold the dollar bills there and leave them as tips. It was so much fun watching the waitresses when they went to gather the tips. I miss doing that.”

That’s when it occurred to me that it really would be fun to leave your tips as origami. At the very least you would leave an impression and likely the people at the restaurant would remember you from that day forward whenever you came in. So here are five origami that should leave a lasting impression when you leave a tip:

Here are the directions to make the shirt. Below is a video showing how to fold the shirt.

Let’s Keep it All in Perspective

In a continuation from my earlier post on how fast we are moving on earth. It doesn’t consider the fact that our solar system is moving at a fast rate as well. Consider that we are all protons, electrons, and neutrons moving at incredible rates. They are infinitely small. Now, compare how small Earth is with some other key celestial objects. It may help you put your problems into perspective.
