23 Ways to Be a More Thoughtful Person

January 15, 2024

by Travis Wright

According to my personality type, ENTP, I tend to be more logical and not as sensitive to other peoples feelings. I go about my day in a deep thinking state, but that doesn’t mean I am necessarily ‘thoughtful’. So, as we are all on the path together, I wanted to put some thinking towards how we can be more thoughtful and caring toward others. We all live on this planet together, so it would be nice if we could do some things for others to make them feel good. As a result of helping others, we are rewarded as well.

People like to feel important and they like to feel like you care about them. So, we need to let people know that we do truly care by our actions. Here are some things that we could do, and if you have others, please take a moment and contribute them in our comment area.

Think like a man of action, act like a man of thought. - Henri Bergman

1. When you say “Thank you” tell the person specifically what it is you appreciate and why you appreciate it. “Thank you for going to the store for me, and getting my shaving cream. I really appreciate it. You rock!”

2. When you meet someone new, be sure to send them a follow up email to let them know that you enjoyed meeting them, and look forward to connecting in the future. Then, connect with them in the future. Your network is one of your most valuable assets.

3. Send ‘Thank you’ cards. We got some thank you cards created for my business, Adiqus, and they come in very handy. If we have a meeting with someone new, we make sure to send them a handwritten note of thanks. I think the handwritten part adds some sincerity and makes a positive impact on the recipient.

4. Place an unexpected phone call just to say “Thank you” or just a quick hello. Connecting in this way adds warmth to your appreciation even if you reach voice mail… and be sure to at least leave a voice mail.

5. Say something nice about someone, where that person can overhear you mentioning it to someone else. This is where eavesdropping can work in your favor. They hear you talking good about them to other people, and it makes them gleam with pride. This works especially well with children.

Emotional Intelligence For Greater Success

December 30, 2023

By Charles A. Breeding

Recall the opening scene in the blockbuster movie, Forrest Gump – a feather floating in the wind, up and down and all around with no control or sense of direction whatsoever. I would argue that many business people feel that awful feeling of being powerless, being blown around by the latest change of which they have no power, influence or sense of control. Helpless. It is not a good feeling.

Later in the movie, as Forrest’s son is about to leave for his first day of school, he asks his father a thought-provoking question: “Is life like a feather (I’m powerless over many events which affect me) or do I have destiny (I can set goals, and purposefully move toward them)?” Forrest’s answer: “ I guess it’s just a little bit of both, son.” Isn’t it?

Stuff Happens, says the cleaned-up version of the famous bumper sticker. Yet, 10% of success is what happens to you -90% of success is what you DO with what happens to you. In other words, do you respond or react? Do you quit, or get up and try again? Are you a golf club thrower, or do you recoup quickly? Do you let your feelings of resentment or anger get the best of you, or are you as cool as a cucumber in a crisis? Do you say things that you later regret? Or, when attacked, respond with calmly spoken, kind words, and perhaps make the other person regret their attack?

IQ or EQ?
Emotional Intelligence, sometimes abbreviated EI or EQ, in a takeoff of IQ, has become a hot management leadership consulting area in the last two years. Emotional skills have replaced experience and IQ or intelligence as the most important markers of personal success. EI is rooted in the belief that success is only partly explained by IQ, or one’s intellect. More important is how one behaves in response to events, and how well they interact with people.

Where Are Your Habits Leading You?

December 22, 2023

life hacksBy Jack Canfield

You are an accumulation of your habits. From how you get out of bed, how you shower, how you dress, how you walk, sit, and talk, how you respond to the world, how you act in front of others, and how you think; you’re living out your habits.

Habits are necessary. They free up your mind so you can concentrate on how to survive day to day. You don’t have to think about how to drive your car so you can be on the look out for danger while you are driving. You don’t have to think about how to walk so you can concentrate on where you’re going.

Unfortunately, habits can also keep you locked in self-destructive patterns, which will limit your success. To become successful, you will need to drop bad habits and develop new ones that are in line with the life you want to live.

People don’t suddenly appear in the life they want to live, habits determine their outcome!

What are the habits you have that are keeping you from achieving your goals? Really be honest with yourself here… Are you always running late? Do you return phone calls within 24 hours? Do you get enough sleep? Do you follow through on your promises? Do you plan out your day?

Imagine what your life would be like if all those habits were their productive counterparts.

What would your life be like if you ate healthy meals, exercised and got enough sleep? What if you saved money, stopped using credit cards and paid cash for everything? What if you stopped procrastinating, overcame your fears, and began networking with people in your field? Would your life be different? I bet it would!

7 Step Guide to an Effective Morning Routine

September 19, 2023

morning routineby CG.com GuestBlogger, Todd Goldfarb

Since I have been living in New York City for 12 years, I am intimately familiar with the “daily grind” and the adjoining morning rituals many working people have.

It is important to realize that what you do in the morning sets the tone for the rest of your day, and habituating an effective morning custom can increase productivity in many areas of you life. By following the seven suggestions in this article, you will start to feel more alert, healthier and stronger!

Suggestion 1

Water. Drink a full glass of water as soon as you wake up. This is critical for the health of your body as you have just spent the last 7-10 hours with no food or drink. You are dehydrated and your entire system desires water to arouse the joints and muscles, and stimulate activity of your organs (especially in the digestive tract). As you drink this glass of water, feel the liquid going into your stomach and get a sense of the body waking up and responding to its lubricating effects. Water is calming for the mind as well and by making a habit of drinking water upon waking you are establishing a healthy pillar of activity first thing in the morning!

Suggestion 2

Stretch. Now that your body is nice and lubricated, and you feel more awake with water inside you, it is imperative to stretch your body. Your have just spent the last several hours in a period of physical inactivity, and you will soon be embarking on a full day of movement so it is crucial to check in with your body and give it a good stretch from the head all the way down to the toes. This is a wonderful way to begin preparing yourself for a successful day, and I recommend spending at least 10 minutes doing a varied routine of full stretches. If you are into Yoga, performing the sun salutations is a great practice and can certainly get you going.

Suggestion 3

Meditate. Meditation is an extraordinary practice that has innumerable health benefits and dates back thousands of years. Through meditation you commit yourself to the practice of listening within, and by sticking to it you will develop increased awareness, stronger intentions and enhanced patience. After a productive morning stretch, take 15-20 minutes and let everything go and just be. Sit (or lie) quietly in a comfortable area where you know you will not be disturbed. I highly recommend reading a book, listening to an instructional CD or even attending a class on meditation as you get more into it. If you do not meditate, or think that you don’t have the ability, you should and you do! It is an incredibly powerful practice to add to your morning routine.
